73. Notifications. Voluntary notification of Phthisis has
low been in force in the Borough for nine years. In
1909, notification of cases attended by Poor Law Medical
Officers was made compulsory.
196 cases were notified last year, compared with 176,
150, 154, and 206, in the four preceding years. 59 of
these were in the Poor Law Infirmary. 43 others were
notified by the District Medical Officers of the Poor Law
Unions, 20 by the Medical Officers of the Royal Arsenal, and
the remainder by various social workers, applicants for
admission to Peppard Common Sanatorium, and by private
medical practitioners. £14 13s. 0d. was paid during the
year for the notification of Phthisis.
