29. The number excused on account of conscientious objections
was 598, compared with 109, 170, 257, and 535, in
the four preceding years. The increase in the four last years
is doubtless the result of the recent Vaccination "Act, which
facilitates the obtaining of exemption certificates. The
number of children unprotected by vaccination is rapidly
increasing.
Chicken-pox.
29a. 327 cases of Varicella were notified by school
teachers, compared with 362, 286, and 327, in the three preceding
years. 78 were under five years, 237 between five
and ten, and 12 over ten years.
Measles.
30. There were 21 deaths from Measles, giving a rate of
0.16,, compared with 0.54, 0.08, and 0.43, in the three
preceding years. The rate in London County was 0.41,
compared with 0.48 in 1909.
31. Of the 21 who died from Measles, 18 were under
five years of age ; 12 were males and 9 females.
32. 396 notifications were received from school teachers,
compared with 465, 825, 1,453, 519, and 768, in the five preceding
years. The mortality per cent. Of notifications was
