The following table gives the Birth-rate for the Borough,
and each registration district, for the three past quinquennia,
and last five years. Correction has been made for births in
the Infirmary, Female Hospital, the Wood Street Home for
Mothers and Babies, and outlying institutions, and the births
distributed to the parishes, to which they properly belong.
Except in Eltham, there has been a great and progressive
decrease in each parish, but greatest in East Plumstead. In
Eltham, after a decrease in the second quinquennium, there
was a marked increase in the third, but the rate has now
fallen below the level of 1896-1900.

East Plumstead and Eltham had the lowest birth-rate of the four registration districts.
