Administration.
Water Supply.
1. The supply is constant throughout the Borough, with
the exception of houses on Shooters Hill (including Eglinton
Road above Genesta Boad, Brent Boad, Dallin Boad, and all
houses above Bed Lion Lane), which have an intermittent
water supply. In these pumping provides a supply from 6 a.m.
to 1 or 2, p.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. A water-tower is in
process of construction to enable these houses to have a
constant supply.
Plumstead Well. In previous years I have repeatedly
called attention to the unsatisfactory condition of the water
supplied by the Blumstead Well. The analyses and bacteriological
examinations reported by the Metropolitan Water
Board did not show any distinct improvement in the condition
of this well. But the Water Board realize the seriousness of
the question, and last year decided to make monthly examinations
of the water. In this way any serious contamination
would be very quickly discovered.
2. Water supply in tenement-houses. An additional tap and
sink were supplied on at least one upper floor of 18 tenementhouses,
under the Public Health (London) Act, Sec. 48,
previously to the coming into force of the London County
Council (General Powers) Act, 1907, by which a suitable water
