62. Bacteriological Diagnosis 15 samples of blood were
sent to the Lister Institute to be examined for Widal's reaction

Diarrhœa or Zymotic Enteritis
63 The deaths from Diarrhoea, Dysentery, and Epidemic
or Zymotic Enteritis were 19, or 0.15 per 1,000 population,
compared with 119, 0.52, 0.81, 0.26, and 0.36, in the five
preceding years The rate for London was 0.32
There were, in addition, 12 deaths from enteritis and Gastroenteritis,
making a total of 31 deaths, or 11 per 1,000 births,
due to diarrhœal diseases 17 of the 31 were under one year
of age, and 5 between one and five years
64. The following table shows the death-rate from the
above-mentioned diarrhceal diseases per 1,000 births, in each
parish during the past nine years:—
