was 535, compared with 109, 170, and 257, in the three

the result of the recent Vaccination Act, which facilitates
the obtaining of exemption certificates Another epidemic of
Small-pox may be confidently expected before very long owing
to the increase of unprotected children

243 cases of Varicella were notified by school teachers, compared
with 84, 362 and 286, in the three preceding years 36
were under five years, 197 between five and ten, and ten over
ten years
Measles
30. There were 55 deaths from Measles, giving a rate of
0.43, compared with 0.24, 0.54, and 0.08, in the three preceding
years The rate in London County was 0.48, compared with
0.31 in 1908
31. Of the 55 who died from Measles, 50 were under 5
years of age; 29 were males and 26 females
32. 768 notifications were received from school-teachers,
compared with 1,240, 465, 825, 1,453, and 519, in the five
preceding years The mortality per cent. of notifications was
7.2, compared with 2.3, 2.8, 3.8, 4.8, and 19, in the five
preceding years 162 cases were notified from Woolwich
Parish, 594 from Plumstead, and 12 from Eltham
