The Mortuaries.
45. The Sun Street Mortuary was used for 171 bodies compared
with 164, 190, and 162 in the three preceding years. 143 were
deposited for inquest, and 28 for custody. Ninety post-mortem
examinations were made. Two bodies were deposited in the
Infectious Mortuary, compared with one in 1906. The Eltham
Mortuary was used for 4 bodies brought for custody only, compared
with 4 in 1906.
Cemeteries.
46. The two Borough Cemeteries were well maintained as
visual. 670 bodies were buried in the Woolwich Cemetery compared
with 690, 611, and 669 in the three previous years. There
were 753 interments in the Plumstead Cemetery compared with
694, 789, and 745 in the three previous years. Only 40 burials
took place in Plumstead Churchyard, compared with 164, 144,
125, 115, 123, 62 and 60, in the seven preceding years.
This marked reduction is satisfactory, and indicates that the
regulation as to burying only near relatives of those already
interred in the Churchyard is now being carried out.

1907 it was used by 257 persons, viz., 60 adult males, 2 adult
females, and 195 children under 16 years of age. 87 of these
persons applied on account of verminous bodies, and 170 for
verminous heads. The adults came mainly from common lodging
houses, and the children were mostly sent from County Council
Schools. 1,470 articles of clothing, &c., belonging to these
persons were disinfected. The construction and modus operandi
of the station were fully described in the 1906 report. It is to
