81. Of the 43 adults about whom information was obtained,
8 were stated to be teetotalers, 24 temperate, and 11 intemperate.
Of the houses of notified consumptives, ten were to some extent
dirty, and one had dark rooms.

82. Occupation. Of the 97 notified males, 34 were Arsenal

83. Bacteriological Diagnosis. Sputum from 171 cases of
suspected phthisis was examined at the Lister Institute, and
tubercle bacilli were found in 55 cases. The number of examinations
for the 5 previous years were 36, 144, 116, 130, and 130
respectively.
