Notices and Prosecutions
Under the Public Health (London) Act, 1901.
50. 2902 written intimation notices and 472 statutory notices
were served. 82 of the latter, not having been complied with in
the time specified, were referred to the Town Clerk, who, before
taking proceedings, wrote a warning letter in each ease. Finally,
10 defaulters were summoned at the Police Court, and convictions
obtained in every case. Fines amounting to £13 were inflicted,
and £3 13s. 6d. costs.
Bacteriological Examinations.
51. 909 Bacteriological Examinations were made for the
Public Health Department by the Lister Institute, and 128 by the
Royal Institute of Public Health, viz.: 889 for diphtheria, 128 for
phthisis, and 20 for enteric fever. The total cost was £153 1s. 8d.
