It thus appears that in the past year there was an increased
mortality from phthisis, but a decrease in the deaths from
meningeal and adominal tuberculosis.
89. The deaths from phthisis were 206, giving a death rate
of 1.64, compared with 1.79, l.80, 1.47, and 1.39 in the four
preceding years.
