29. In January 30 cases occurred.

This monthly occurrence of cases agrees with that of Scarlet
Fever in the fact that the highest number of cases occurred in
January and the lowest in December.
30. The highest number of cases occurred among children
attending Knee Hill School, where 31 children, or 20 per cent,
of the pupils on the roll were affected.
Burrage Grove School was the next most affected, but only
had 1.8 per cent. of the number on the roll attacked. Ancona
Boad, Bloomfield Boad, and Conway Boad come next in order,
the other Schools being much less affected.
In 1899, Ancona Boad and Burrage Grove Schools were the
most affected.
31. Of the 240 cases, 45, or nearly one-fifth occurred in
the small isolated district known as Abbey Wood. This district
being low-lying might be considered a likely one for the occurrence
of Diphtheria, but as a fact no case occurred there in 1899
and very few cases have occurred in previous years. Further,
only one case as far as I could learn occurred last year in the
adjoining and similarly situated part of Abbey Wood which is
in Belvedere, and all the cases, with two exceptions, were either
