and £100 for the third and subsequent offences.
Diphtheria

One notification of diphtheria was received but was not confirmed. The number of Stepney children immunised at London County Council clinics, during the last 5 years, is as follows:-

Swabs forwarded by general practitioners to the Mile End Group
Laboratory, where bacteriological examinations are carried out on behalf
of the Borough Council, numbered 26.
Dysentery
Notifications of cases of dysentery numbered 4-0, compared with 31
cases last year.
Enteric Fever
No cases of enteric fever were notified during the year.
Erysipelas
During the year 8 notifications were received (compared with 119 in
1936).
Food Poisoning
There were 8 cases of food poisoning notified in the Borough during
the year. Salmonella typhi-murium was isolated in one case.
Malaria
One case of malaria was notified.
Measles
Although 1963 was an epidemic year, notifications numbered only
1,012 compared with 1,906 in the previous epidemic year of 1961.
Meningococcal Infection
Three notifications were received during the year, and were was one
