Three of the Sanitary Inspectors and six of the Clerks are serving in His Majesty's
Forces, their place being occupied pro tem. by female clerks. The laboratory assistant
and four of the disinfectors also joined the Forces. One of the disinfecting men has
been killed and two of the clerks have been severely wounded.
I have again to express my indebtedness to the Sanitary Inspectors and Clerical
Staff—including the temporary clerical staff—for the manner in which they have
assisted me in carrying out the duties of my office.
I have the honour to be,
Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
D. L. THOMAS.
Medical Officer of Health and Public Analyst.
Public Health Offices,
43, White Horse Street,
Commercial Road, E. 1.
