In addition to the samples already enumerated 139 other samples were
examined. Of these 61 were samples purchased informally by the Inspectors;
4 Milks and 57 Butters. 29 Butters were found to consist of Margarine or mixtures
of Butter and Margarine. Official samples were afterwards purchased at the shops
where these Butters were sold, and in every case prosecutions resulted. The
adulteration of the informal samples were 47.5 percent. as compared with 116
per cent. of the samples purchased officially.

For the Works Department—
7 Samples of Carbolic Fluid.
7 Samples of Carbolic Powder.
For the Electrical Department—
4 Samples of Resin Oil.
4 Samples of Bitumen.
4 Samples of Boiler Covering Composition.
For the General Public—
23 Samples of Milk.
4 Samples of Cheese.
2 Samples of Resin Soap.
1 Sample of Barley Meal.
