British Lying-in-Hospital; and 1 each in the Salvation Army Maternity
Hospital, the General Lying-in-Hospital and the Clapham Maternity
Hospital.
Illegitimate Births,
32 illegitimate births were registered in the Limehouse District, or at the rate
of 16.6 per 1,000 births.
42 illegitimate births were registered in the St. George's District, or at the rate
of 23.5 per 1,000 births.
66 illegitimate births were registered in the Mile End Old Town District; or
at the rate of 17.9 per 1,000 births.
36 illegitimate births were registered in the Whitechapel District, or at the
rate of 16 9 per 1,000 births.
Marriages.
The marriages during the year numbered 2,376, or 13 more than in the previous
year.
The proportion of persons married was 15.2 per 1,000 of the population, while
that for the whole of London was 15.8 per 1,000.
351 marriages occurred in the Limehouse District, or at the rate of 11.9
persons married per 1,000 of the population.
252 marriages occurred in the St. George's District, or at the rate of 9.6
persons married per 1,000 of the population.
1,315 marriages occurred in the Mile End Old Town District, or at
the rate of 22 persons married per 1,000 of the population.
458 marriages occurred in the Whitechapel District, or at the rate of 11.2
persons married per 1,000 of the population.
