There were 1,142 deaths of non-residents in Public Institutions in the
District.
Notifiable Diseases.
2,042 notifications of Infectious Disease were received, or 1,007 less than in
the previous year. This corresponds to a rate of 6.53 per 1,000 of the population.
1,635 were removed to various Hospitals and Infirmaries.
393 belonged to the Limehouse District, or at the rate of 6.66 per 1,000.
349 belonged to St. George-in-the-East, or at the rate of 6.55 per 1,000.
845 belonged to Mile End Old Town, or at the rate of 7.09 per 1,000.
455 belonged to the Whitechapel District, or at the rate of 5.60 per
1,000.
The greatest number of notifiable diseases occurred during the fourth week in
March, when 58 cases were notified, which coincided with the greatest number
of Scarlet Fever notifications in one week, viz., 37, which occurred during that
period.
The greatest number of notifications of Diphtheria in one week was 16,
which occurred in the third week of February, the fourth week of March, and
the third week of October.
