deal with the court under Part I. of the Act, as the Vestry felt that
there were difficulties in the way of taking action under Part II. of
the Act.
The London County Council replied stating that they were
unable to agree with the Vestry that it would be extremely difficult
for them to deal with the Turner's Court area under Part II. of the
Act, but they are of opinion that, the area being so confined, should
be dealt with by the Vestry. However, the dissolution of the
Vestry being so near at hand, the further consideration of the
matter dropped.
The House-to-House Inspection.
In the year 1893 the late Vestry of St. Martin's resolved upon
a house-to-house inspection of all the houses in the parish. Three
temporary qualified Sanitary Inspectors were engaged for the work.
The drains were tested by means of Kemp's tester and the Sanitary
arrangements examined, and when found defective, notices were
served to remedy same.
The following is a list of those premises where notices and
plans have been sent in of intention to lay down new drains since
the commencement of this inspection:—
