In order to facilitate the work and to ensure its administration in a
uniform manner throughout all premises within the Borough, a standard form of
defects as compiled by the Chief Public Health Inspector and with the use of
pocket tape recorders, the Public Health Inspector was enabled to dictate
contraventions directly onto tape the audio-typist typing the appropriate
notice direct from the tape.
In this manner the Public Health Inspector spent little or no time at the
office dictating Notices or drafting Notices for the benefit of the typist,
and was thus enabled to carry on with his routine inspections without any
impediment of any kind output of work thus being carried out to the highest
degree.
It is a pleasure to report that at the end of the year a great deal of
work was being carried out in response to the Notices served and it is most
encouraging to the Department proving beyond doubt that the work of preparation
carried out well before the date of the application of the Act has paid
a good dividend.
The value of Technical Assistants to obtain factual information working
under the strict control of the Public Health Inspector cannot be overestimated
and there is a vast field of employment for this type of personnel
working strictly under controlled conditions.
