(a) Outworkers
Number of outworkers in Shoreditch 233
Number of basic routine inspections made 138
56 Lists of outworkers were received from employers in the Borough.
718 persons of whom 577 were not resident in Shoreditch were included in these
lists
279 outworkers living in Shoreditch but working for firms outside the Borough
were notified by 18 Local Authorities.
Again one must refer to the Vast amount of what one considers to be
unnecessary administrative work thrust upon the local authority Public Health
Departments in respect of outworkers, One must again repeat, that if an
obligation were placed on the firms responsible for supplying local authorities
with lists of outworkers to notify the several authorities in which their
outworkers reside, it would be to everyone' s advantage, and very much reduce
the work of the clerical staff of local authorities.
