INFANTILE MORTALITY
The deaths of infants under one year numbered 20 of which 9 were males.
These deaths amounted to 3.87 per cent of the total net Shoreditch deaths from
all causesj as compared with 2.64 per cent in 1962. The infantile mortality
rate (death rate of infants under one year per 1,000 live births) for
Shoreditch was 33.44, rate for England and Wales being 21.1 and that for
London 21.8. No illegitimate infant dieda
The number of deaths of infants under 4 weeks of age- was 6, which gives
a neo-natal rate of 10.03.
