INFANTILE MORTALITY.
The deaths of infants under one year numbered 18 of which 13 were males.
These deaths amounted to 3.45 per cent of the total net Shoreditch deaths from
all causes, as compared with 2.73 per cent in 1960. The infantile mortality
rate (death rate of infants under one year per 1,000 live births) for Shoredit
was 26.35, the rate for England and Wales being 21.6 and that for London 21.5
Two illegitimate infants died.
The number of deaths of infants under 4 weeks of age was 14, which gives
a neo-natal rate of 20.49.
