NOTIFICATIONS
During the year there were received notifications of 113 cases of pulmonary

89 were males and 51 females. This represents an increase of 17 in the number of
notifications of pulmonary disease, and an increase of 7 in the number of cases of
non-pulmonary disease. Compared with the average for the previous five years
these figures represent a decrease of 10 in pulmonary and an increase of 1 in nonpulmonary
tuberculosis. Of the total cases, 25 were notified by private practitioners
and 115 by medical officers of institutions.
From the point of view of age grouping it is found that 8.85 per cent. of the
total notifications of pulmonary tuberculosis which were received were in respect of
children under 15 years and 91.15 per cent. were in respect of persons over 15 years,
the corresponding figures for 1936 being 6.3 per cent. and 93.7 per cent. respectively.
As regards non-pulmonary tuberculosis 62.96 per cent. were children under 15 years
and 37.04 per cent. were individuals over 15 years. The corresponding figures for the
