Two lecture demonstrations by the Women's League of Health and Beauty
and a demonstration by a team from the Central Council of Recreative Physical
Training were given during the week and were much appreciated. Monday evening
was devoted to a swimming gala held at the Pitfield Street Baths. This was primarily
intended for school children. The programme included team races by Shoreditch
boys and girls; a display of fancy diving by "The Lucratics"; a display of scientific
swimming by two members of the Hammersmith Ladies' Swimming Club and a
demonstration by another member of the Club; and a water polo match between
the "Penguins IV" and "Anlaby." Music was again provided by the Hoxton
Excelsior Silver Band.
