In the other case the amount of Soluble Chlorine was 37 parts in excess
of the legal maximum allowed. No action was taken.
Merchandise Marks Act, 1926, Orders.
General observation was kept of all stalls and shops in the Borough
where foodstuffs scheduled under these Orders were exposed for sale. Seven
warning letters were sent in respect of minor infringements. These proved
effective and no further action was necessary.
FACTORY AND WORKSHOP ACT, 1901.
Factories are dealt with by H.M. Inspectors of Factories and Workshops
by the Officers of the Borough Council. Certain sanitary defects, however,
occurring in factories are only remediable under the Public Health Act, and
are referred by H.M. Inspectors to the Health Department.
The number of workshops, exclusive of bakehouses, on the register at
the end of 1932 was 1,643. The number added to the register during the
year under consideration was 95, the number removed was 174, and the
number on the register at the end of 1933 was 1,564.
