* Fever includes typhus, typhoid and continued fevers. † Diarrhoea includes Enteritis in children under two years.
‡ The Shoreditch Workhouse is situate in this Ward. In the cases of some of the deaths in outlying institutions, the workhouse
is the last known place of residence in the Borough. It is probable therefore that this Ward is credited with some deaths
rightly belonging to other Wards in the Borough.
§ The inhabitants of the Holborn Union Workhouse, which is situate in Wenlock Ward, and the deaths occurring in that
institution are excluded.
NOTE.—Where the deaths under any heading are too few to express as a rate per 1,000 within two places of decimals, 0.00 is
inserted ; where no deaths have occurred, dots are placed in the space under the heading.
