In the subjoined table are given the deaths and death-rates from certain causes for the dwellings and the corresponding death-rates for the whole Borough, so that they may be compared :—

The deaths of residents of the dwellings in public institutions numbered
04, being 40 for the class A and 14 for the class B dwellings. The percentage
of the total deaths of residents of the dwellings dying in public institutions was
44.2, being 47.0 for class A and 37.8 for class B. The percentages for previous
years are contained in my last annual report. Those for the Borough and for
ihe wards are contained in Table VII. (Appendix).
The cases of notifiable infectious disease numbered 90, of which 78 were
in the class A and 18 in the class B dwellings. The attack-rates per 1,000
population were respectively 12.2, 12.8, and J 0.1, as compared with 8.8 for the
whole Borough. The cases included 56 of scarlet fever, 29 diphtheria, 2 enteric
fever, and 9 erysipelas.

The numbers of cases and the attack-rates per 1,000 inhabitants with respect to scarlet fever, diphtheria, enteric fever, and erysipelas are set out below : —

For the whole Borough the attack-rates were as follows: 5.1 for scarlet
fever, 1.7 for diphtheria, 0.8 for enteric fever, and 1.0 for erysipelas.
