some 823 letters were sent to owners of property, builders, and others concerned.
Some 29,076 visits of inspection were made during the year, exclusive

The premises inspected included milkshops, cowsheds, slaughter-houses, cookshops,
and eating houses, factories, workshops, outworkers' premises, schools,
dwelling-houses, and tenement buildings (Appendix).
In the subjoined table is contained a summary giving an idea as to the nature of the work done for the abatement of nuisances and for improving the dwellings of the people in Shoreditch, which has been compiled from the abstracts of their work prepared by the sanitary inspectors : —
