METROPOLIS LOCAL MANAGEMENT ACT.
THE VESTBY OF
SAINT LEONARD, SHOREDITCH.
NINTH QUARTERLY REPORT
of the
medical officer of health.
To the Vestry of St. Leonard, Shoreditch.
Gentlemen,
The Report now submitted to you,
relates to the thirteen weeks ending on the Third day
of July, constituting the second quarter of the year 1858.
In this period, 1227 persons were born, and 684
died. During the corresponding period of last year,
691 persons died. The lesser number of deaths took
place in an increased population. Had the inhabitants
died in the second quarter of 1858 at the same rate as
in the second quarter of 1857, the deaths would have
amounted to 713. The improvement in the health of
the district may be expressed by the difference, namely,
29, or .04.
