The attendance record has been excellent throughout and so
has the time keeping. The Mental Welfare Officers involved in the
community care of individual members and other social agencies,
keep in close touch with the Supervisor.
Nine local firms carrying out light industrial work, have,
through the personal efforts of the Supervisor, become and remain
regular suppliers of contracts. It is envisaged that once such a
supply of work can be counted upon, the surplus will be re-routed
to the adult workshop at the Training Centre.
This was the first new project established in the Borough.
However modest in its aims and size, its success has been a source
of satisfaction and pride to all concerned.
When by the end of 1967, the authority was providing the
ex-mentally ill with a place to work—Rydal Mount, Beckenham,
a 15 place short-stay hostel was still awaiting completion. The
Warden and Matron, however, had already taken up their posts
and were engaged in getting the hostel ready for occupation early
in 1968.
PROJECTS ON MENTAL SUBNORMALITY SIDE
Adult Industrial I Rehabilitation I Training Centre, Bromley

for the above purpose fell through, every effort was made to
acquire a suitable site for purpose building. These efforts were
successful, and at the time of writing, the purchase is nearing
completion and the Architects' work in progress.
