accident rate still remains too high, and "I didn't know" or "I
never realised" continues to be the cry, when these accidents
occur.
Local Campaigns
With the co-operation and approval of the West Kent
Pharmaceutical Society, the Home Safety Committees have
arranged for posters to be printed and displayed in all Chemists'
shops within the Borough, notifying members of the public that all
unwanted drugs/tablets/medicines, etc. could be returned to the
chemist for ultimate disposal.
Copies of these posters have been given the widest publicity,
in Libraries, Clinics, Old People's Clubs, General Practitioners'
Surgeries, and the local and national press.
During the past year, the Home Safety Committees have
supported the National Campaign on general preventive measures,
particularly with regard to the Fire Protection Campaign, sponsored
by the Home Office, R.o.S.P.A. and the Fire Protection
Associations.
Many lectures, displays of material, film shows, etc., have
been carried out during the year, with the wonderful co-operation
of many Head Teachers, Health Visitors, Council of Social
Services, and many voluntary organisations.
