ANTHRAX ORDER, 1938
Information was received from the Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food that a heifer had been found dead at a local
farm in Keston on 29th February, the cause of death being suspected
as anthrax. Notices were served declaring the premises to
be an infected place and notice was given requiring the disinfecting
and cleansing of the infected place. All in-contact stock was
protected with vaccine or antibiotic. The carcase was disposed of
by burning on the site. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries
and Food's Officers subsequently confirmed that smears taken
from the dead animal confirmed the presence of anthrax. Further
inspections having proved that all the required measures had been
carried out, the notice defining the infected place was withdrawn
on 1st March.
