Generally, personnel involved in the food trade are
co-operative. However, when required, written notices to remedy
conditions are issued and a reasonable period is given for compliance.
It was not found necessary to resort to legal action for the
non-compliance of such notices.
Samples of food and drugs are regularly taken and are submitted
to the Public Analyst for examination. No instances of
wilful adulteration were found; there were, however, cases of
technical infringements, details of the resultant action being given
in the tables on pages 104-112.
The sampling of foodstuffs for the presence of residual pesticides
was again carried out as part of a survey in collaboration
with other London Boroughs; these samples all proving to be
satisfactory.
