During the year 1951, there were 29 deaths from violence, including
6 suicides, 7 motor vehicle accidents, 15 other accidents, and 1
homicide.
Maternal Mortality.
There were no maternal deaths in the Borough during 1951.

Eleven infants died during 1951 before reaching their first birthday,
giving an Infant Mortality Rate for the year of 12.0 per 1,000
live births.
Eight died in first four weeks of life, seven of which were within
the first week.

The Infant Mortality Rate for 1951 is the lowest ever recorded
for the area. The Rate for England and Wales was 29.6 per 1,000
related live births, and 26.4 per 1,000 live births for London Administrative
County.
