Introduction.
To the Chairman and Members of the Welfare Committee.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The School Health Services have been carried out at full
pressure during the past year, 3,234 individual children have
been examined at school and 8,533 medical examinations carried
out at the school clinics. The scheme is as laid down in the
previous year's report except that there has been established a
speech clinic at the School Clinic, Princes Plain.
There have been certain staff changes during the year. We
had the benefit of the full time additional services of Dr. Currie
throughout the year, and we lost the services of one of the School
Dentists, Mr. Glen, who resigned in October to take up a
university appointment and whose vacancy we were unable to
fill for the balance of the year. The Department lost a faithful
and efficient colleague in the death of Mr. Lawley, who had been
Chief Clerk for 26 years.
For actual statistical details of the work during the year I
would refer to the tables which are attached and not interspaced
with the text as in previous years.
