PETROLEUM ACTS.
The Chief Sanitary Inspector undertakes the duties of
Inspector under the Petroleum Acts for the Borough.
During the annual licencing period 95 licences were issued.
129 inspections of storage installations were made, during the
course of which 4 contraventions were corrected.
RETAIL MARKET.
The Corporation owns the Retail Market under a Charter
of Market Rights (granted 20th July, 1447). The Market is held
on Thursday at the Car Park, Station Road. The administrative
supervision is under the Health Committee and the Market is
controlled by the Market Superintendent.
There was a slight improvement in the business of the
Market after a very lean war-time period but is still far below
the business done in the pre-war years.
