The foregoing table shows that apart from measles the
Borough had a low infectious disease incidence during 1945.
There was one death from measles, one from acute encephalitis
and 32 from pneumonia. The encephalitis death was
an inward transfer of a case which had contracted the disease
and died outside the area. The 32 pneumonia deaths must not
be set against the 32 cases notified, as deaths include all forms
of pneumonia whereas notified cases are confined to the acute
types of pneumonia.
