The total number of deaths for 1942 was 580, which
is less by 183 than the total for 1941.
It is noteworthy that the total of 479,907 deaths in
England and Wales during 1942 (including those caused
by enemy action) was the lowest of the four war years.
The decrease on 1941 was over 55,000 and compared with
1940, over 100,000.
The crude Death Rate for 1942 is 11.4 compared
with 15.1 for 1941.
