Schools continued to function very satisfactorily, and an
increased number of fiieals were served, the approximate
average number of meals per day being 450.
The provision of milk in schools under the Milk in
Schools Scheme provides one-third pint portion of milk
daily to approximately 50 per cent. of the Elementary
School population. In some instances, amounting to
4 per cent. of the total, children receive a one-third
portion in the morning and a further one-third pint
portion in the afternoon.

Occupation Centre for the Mentally Defective.
The war has necessitated the closing down of all
occupation centres in the county as with inadequate
protection in the event of air raids, too much responsibility
would rest on the supervisors. In order to maintain
touch with the children and young persons
