RETAIL MARKET.
The Retail Market is held on Thursdays at the Car
Park, Station Road, under the control of the Market
Superintendent. The administrative supervision is under
the Health Committee.
Permanent overhead covering for the Market, or
alternatively the stalls, came under consideration during
the year, but on the present basis of income the improvement
could not be adopted as an economical proposition.
More extensive lighting of the Market was also considered,
but for similar reasons this additional facility could not be recommended for adoption.
Without adequate lighting and covering it is doubtful if the Market will increase in popularity with the public or with the stall-holders.
