II.—VITAL STATISTICS.
Births.
Seven hundred and eighty-one live births were notified
during 1935 as occurring within the Borough of Bromley.
One hundred and fifty-nine of these were transferable to
other local authorities, while 136 babies of Bromley
residents were born outside the area. These figures give
us 758 registrable births, and a Birth Bate for 1935 of
13.5 per 1,000 population.
The return shows the following details:—
Live Births: | Total. | Legitimate. | Illegitimate. |
---|---|---|---|
Male | 391 | 374 | 17 |
Female | 367 | 347 | 20 |
Totals | 758 | 721 | 37 |
Still Births: | |||
Male | 9 | 9 | — |
Female | 6 | 6 | — |
Totals | 15 | 15 | — |
These figures shew the highest number of births ever recorded in Bromley, an excess of males over females, a reduction in still births and a reduction in the number of babies born out of wedlock.
