The vital statistics for 1935 show an increasing:
population, a slight fall in the Death Eate to 9.4, a rise
in the Birth Kate to 13.5, and, I am happy to record,
a fall in the Maternal Mortality Hate. The Infantile
Mortality Rate is the lowest ever recorded in Bromley—a
figure of 27.7 per 1,000 babies is far below the expectations
of past years. The substance of the Report describes these
rates in more detail.
I would desire to express my appreciation to the
members of the various Committees for the assistance they
give to the work, to Mr. Lawley and to the staff of the
Department for their individual keenness and efficiency,
and to my fellow colleagues for the co-operation they so
willingly give at all times.
I am,
Mr. Mayor, Madam and Gentlemen,
Your Obedient Servant,
K. E. TAPPER,
Medical Officer of Health.
