Group VI.—Uncleanliness and Verminous Conditions
(page 124).
Each school is visited by the School Nurses, and
every child is examined for cleanliness each term. The
cleanliness of the children of to-day shows a vast
improvement on that of the children a decade ago. To-day
it is the chronic offender who disturbs the clean record of
a school, and it is these who appear before the Court under
the School Attendance Bye-laws. The appendix shows
that 15,249 examinations were made of the school
