HISTORY.—The Public Health Administration of
Bromley dates from the formation of a Local Board of Health
in 1867. It is to be noted that even in those days government
was for reasons of health. In 1894 Bromley had so
advanced as to become an Urban District, and in 1903 it
received its Charter of Incorporation, being then administered
by a Mayor, six Aldermen, and eighteen Councillors.
In 1918 the Parliamentary Borough of Bromley was formed,
comprising the Borough of Bromley and the Urban Districts
of Beckenham and Penge.
