POPULATION
The mid-year estimate of the population supplied by the
Registrar General is 47,510 a decrease of 240 from that of the
previous year.
BIRTHS
The number of live births registered during the year was
811, which gives a crude birth rate of 17.03 per 1,000 of population,
the corrected birth rate being 18.05 the rate for 1961
was 16. 1. There were 23 still-births, giving a still-birth rate
of 31.2 per 1,000 births. In 1961 the still-birth rate was 17.3.
