It will be understood that an effort such as that described
above is additional to the regular programme of health education
in food hygiene carried on throughout the year. Thus, our Sanitary
Inspectors endeavour to carry out a policy of health education
whenever they visit food premises, while quite a number of talks
are given during the year on the important topic of clean, safe food.
The importance of these efforts need not be stressed. There
is no reason to believe that the standard of hygiene in Wood Green
gives cause for alarm. Even allowing for this, it is no less than
our duty to raise existing standards by every means possible, to
supply information to all classes of the community, and to see that
everything is being done to safeguard the food supply in all places
and at all times. Altogether, we try to keep the matter of food
hygiene constantly before the public, as this subject is not one
which we can ever afford to neglect.
