I wish to express my thanks to the Chairmen and members of
the Public Health and Maternity and Child Welfare Committees for
their support and encouragement at all times.
On July 5th, 1948, the great majority of the members of the
staff of the Health Department, the Deputy Medical Officer of
Health, the part-time medical officers, the health visitors, midwives,
matrons and nurses at the Day Nurseries, the Chief Clerk and
several other members of the clerical staff go over to the employment
of the Middlesex County Council, and it is fitting that I
should make special mention now of my appreciation of the high
standard of the services they have rendered, several of them for
very many years to the health and well-being of the community,
and of my personal indebtedness to them for their loyal co-operation
and help at all times in the work of the Health Department. I wish
to make particular mention in this connection of Mr. G. W. Jones,
the Chief Clerk of the Department, on whose loyal assistance I have
relied more and more during my years of service in Wood Green.
I am,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
MALCOLM MANSON,
Medical Officer of Health.
