Maternity Hospital Provision.
Arrangements are in force with three hospitals, namely the
Mothers' Hospital, Clapton, the Royal Northern Hospital, Holloway,
and the City of London Maternity Hospital for the admission of
cases from Wood Green Centres.
21 cases were sent to these maternity hospitals during the year.
A large number of mothers in Wood Green are admitted to the
North Middlesex Hospital for confinement, and from the time of
their booking until the actual confinement, these mothers are kept
under observation by the obstetrical surgeon at the hospital. An
arrangement was made a year ago with the County Health Department
by which the routine ante-natal supervision of these mothers is
carried out at our Ante-Natal Clinic. This arrangement has
worked well, and is of benefit to all concerned, ensuring close cooperation
between the hospital and the local ante-natal clinic, and
saving the mothers the fatigue of regular long journeys to hospital.
Dental Clinic.
Expectant and nursing mothers and children under school age
in need of dental treatment can obtain such treatment from the
Dental Surgeon at Stuart Villa on Tuesday afternoons, when
recommended by the Medical Officer at the Child Welfare Centre.
