The Middlesex County Council is the Authority for taking samples under the above Acts, and Mr. R. Robinson, Chief Officer of the
Public Control Department, has kindly supplied the following figures concerning samples taken in Wood Green during 1935:—

PREVALENCE OF AND CONTROL OVER
INFECTIOUS DISEASE.
Table VI in the Appendix shows the details of the notification
of infectious disease received during the year. The total number
368 was considerably less than that for the previous year, which
was 448. The fall in numbers was entirely due to the diminished
prevalence of Scarlet Fever which was responsible for only 201
notifications as compared with 292 for the previous year. The
total number of cases removed to hospital or sanatorium was 300,
and the number of deaths due to infectious disease was 57. Of
these 26 were due to pneumonia and 24 to tuberculosis. Diphtheria
