respects inadequate, and at times there is very considerable overcrowding,
as, for instance, when minor ailment, dental and speech
defect clinics are being held at the same time, as is sometimes
inevitable. By arrangement with the Maternity and Child Welfare
Committee, the Eye and Ear Clinics are held at the Child Welfare
Centre in White Hart Lane, and while this arrangement works
very well, it would, of course, be much better if we had a really
satisfactory School Clinic, in which all our medical treatment could
be carried out. I am well aware of the difficulties which have stood
in the way hitherto of a new Clinic being provided, and also that
the subject is under consideration by the Committee at the moment,
but I think it right to remind the Committee of the difficulties
under which our work is at present being done, and of the importance
of providing more satisfactory accommodation at the earliest
possible moment.
In conclusion, I wish to express my appreciation of the support
and encouragement which the Education Committee has at all
times given to its school medical services. I wish also to thank
the Director of Education and his staff for assistance which is
always readily available, and my own staff for the loyal and willing
service on which 1 can invariably count.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
MALCOLM MANSON,
School Medical Officer.
