Town Hall,
Wood Green, N.22.
27th May, 1935.
To the Mayor and Members of the Council
of the Borough of Wood Green.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I beg to present to you my Annual Report as Medical Officer
of Health for the year 1934.
Apart from the fact that scarlet fever, fortunately of a very
mild type, was widely prevalent throughout the year, 1934 has been
uneventful so far as the health of the community is concerned.
So far as vital statistics are concerned there has been a
further fall in the birth-rate for the sixth year in succession, and
the births exceeded the deaths only by the very narrow margin of
two.
I have again to express my thanks to the Chairmen of the
Public Health and Maternity and Child Welfare Committees, and
to the Council generally for the consideration and help I have
received, and to the whole staff of the Health Department for their
willing co-operation throughout the year.
Your obedient servant,
MALCOLM MANSON,
Medical Officer of Health.
